Survey Junkie Review: 3 Things to Consider Before Signing Up

Online surveys are a convenient way to supplement your income when working from home, but does Survey Junkie worth your time?

To make money online in my free time, I've taken hundreds of online surveys from sites like Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) and Swagbucks over the last five years.

The pay is modest — with each survey paying less than a dollar — but if you stick with it, it will quickly add up.

Is It Worth It to Be a Survey Junkie?

Survey Junkie is an online survey site that rewards users for participating in surveys. Each survey has a set number of points that can be exchanged for cash or gift cards.

I put Survey Junkie to the test to see how it stacked up against MTurk and Swagbucks. Here's what you need to hear about it!

1. Create a User Account

It takes only two minutes to get started with Survey Junkie. Before you can build an account on SurveyJunkie.com, you must have the following personal information:

  • The postal code
  • Place of residence
  • Year of birth
  • Gender is a factor.
  • First and last name

I started filling out profiles as soon as I signed up. According to Survey Junkie, this would improve the odds of receiving further surveys and better pay.

This is due to the fact that market research firms are searching for various groups of individuals to complete surveys.

These profile questions inquired as to whether I had a cat, what kind of handset I used, where I purchased specific items, and how much time I spent watching television.

I received a limited number of points for each completed profile.

2. Taking Surveys

Survey Junkie started to give me paying survey opportunities not long after I completed those profile questions.

A list of available surveys can be found on your account dashboard. Without clicking on one, you can see how many points you'll get and how long it'll take you to finish the challenge — for example, a 10-minute survey for 40 points.

I could only participate in a few surveys at a time, which reduced my earning opportunities with Survey Junkie.

I discovered that Survey Junkie has less surveys available than MTurk, which take longer to complete and cost less. I completed 35 activities between profile questions and surveys before hitting the $10 minimum reward.

(The minimum redemption balance was reduced to $5 when I last reviewed Survey Junkie in June 2020.)

The most aggravating aspect was answering survey questions for several minutes only to be disqualified. That happened a couple of times.

If you've taken many online surveys, you'll get what I'm talking about. I've had this experience with Swagbucks before. It may be discouraging to bring in the most of the effort but not get the full benefit.

In terms of survey subjects, the majority of Survey Junkie's surveys were based on consumer goods and services.

3. Being compensated for your efforts

One point equals one cent when you take polls like Poll Junkie. As a result, a survey with a prize of 100 points would net you $1. To cash out, you must have $5 in your account (500 points).

I choose to accept a PayPal cash bonus, but the rewards can also be credited to a bank account. A third redemption choice is electronic gift cards.

The following are some of the gift cards that are available:

  • Target
  • iTunes
  • Sephora
  • Amazon
  • Starbucks
  • Sephora
  • Groupon
  • Walmart
  • Groupon

In order to withdraw my earning from, Survey Junkie requested identification verification. This included my home address as well as my phone number.

A lot of people had trouble withdrawing their cash out of survey junkie but it often get solve with the help of their support system.

Like for some people, Survey Junkie's system was unable to verify my name right away, so I had to wait til the next business day for someone from the company to call me and manually check it.

While I was a little concerned that I might not be able to withdraw my earnings, I was able to cash out directly after the manual check.

Conclusion

After putting Survey Junkie to the test, I can affirm that the online survey site is completely legitimate and not a scam. However, I do not believe this is a viable way for you to earn more than a few dollars per day.

I've had quite some luck with MTurk, which has a lot of options for earning money apart from just taking surveys.

If you want to try Survey Junkie, I recommend doing exactly as I did. Sign up at SurveyJunkie.com, spend a couple hours doing surveys, and cash out after you've met the minimum requirements.
